Clerk of Course Mervyn Whyte MBE said, “Rider John Anderton was involved in a serious accident following Station Corner yesterday evening during the final 600cc qualifying practice session. No other riders were involved in the incident. Medical personnel arrived on the scene immediately and John was taken to Causeway Hospital. John is in a critically ill condition and was transferred this morning (13th May) to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. Our thoughts and prayers are very much with him and his family at this difficult time.”
