Mervyn Whyte pays tribute to riders

31/08/2011

North West Technical Director Mervyn Whyte has paid tribute to Northern Ireland competitors Adrian McFarland and Wayne Hamilton who tragically died at races in the Czech Republic and the Isle of Man. “Adrian had competed several times in the North West 200 and was a pleasure to work with. A good all round competitor who loved his sport, Adrian took an excellent 3rd position in the Superbike Race in 2002. On behalf of the North West 200 and Coleraine & District Motor Club I’d like to pass on my condolences to Adrian’s family and friends.”

“At only 20 years old Wayne Hamilton was an up and coming young rider and certainly a star in the making. Whilst Wayne hadn’t made his North West debut he was exactly the kind of rider we would have loved to have had on the grid and I’m sure he would have been a great competitor. Our deepest sympathy is with Wayne’s family and friends at this very sad time.”
