WP Racing Becomes Vauxhall International North West 200 Control Fuel Supplier

The Vauxhall International North West 200 is delighted to announce that WP Racing are to be the exclusive fuel supplier for the event. WP are the current control fuel supplier for the British Superbike Championship and have extensive experience in the supply of quality racing fuels and testing of fuel samples.

The agreement extends over a three year term and the Technical Regulations for the 2018 races are currently being finalised to incorporate the use of the new control fuel format. These will be communicated with all teams and riders once approved by the regulatory body.

“Each year some 10,000 litres of fuel are used across all classes at the North West.” Event Director, Mervyn Whyte,MBE, explained.

“We take our Health & Safety and Environmental responsibilities extremely seriously.  The introduction of WP Racing’s services will bring about significant improvements in terms of the safe transportation, handling and dispensing of racing fuels.  Through the use of approved and tested fuel containers and dispensing equipment, there will also be a significantly reduced risk of environmental contamination through fuel spillage.”

The introduction of a control fuel will also ensure there is a level playing field for every team and competitor racing at the North West 200.

“It is in the interests of everyone involved in the sport that race results are not influenced by any potential unfair advantage brought about through the illicit use of higher performing fuels.” Whyte said.

“WP Racing will have an on site testing facility that can accurately confirm, within ten minutes of obtaining a sample, that the control fuel is being used.”
