Co. Antrim-based Englishman, Christian Elkin, is gunning for glory at this year’s Briggs Equipment North West 200 on May 6-11.

The 43 year old engine tuner, who hails from Macclesfield originally, will be mounted on a Dynocentre NI R6 Yamaha in the Supersport class and a RB Engineering 650cc Kawasaki in the Supertwin races.

“I’m targeting a top ten finish in the 600cc races and some podium finishes at least in the Twins races.” Elkin says.

Seventeen seasons have passed since Elkin made his debut on the north coast and he has enjoyed some memorable moments around the 8.9 mile Triangle course including his victory in the 2007 250cc race and a runner-up finish to Michael Dunlop during the Ballymoney youngster’s epic ride to victory in the 2008 250cc race. That result was one of three rostrum finishes Elkin has chalked up at Portrush.

“There are a lot of rule changes this year so it will be interesting to see how that affects things.” Elkin says.

“But the racing at the North West 200 is always exciting and it is great to be involved in such a fantastic event.”
